You Will Not Find These Wild Animals in Zoo

Posted on 10/03/2021 by admin

You Will Not Find These Wild Animals in Zoo – A zoo is a place that is used as a place for the preservation of animals that are kept in an environment and displayed to the public.

For ordinary people like us, zoos have a big role to play in introducing various wild animals that cannot be seen in everyday life. Without it, we might not be able to see elephants, tigers, giraffes, pandas, and dolphins directly.

However, it turns out that there are a number of wild animal species that cannot be found in zoos. The reasons are various, some are hard to find, too savage, their habitat is difficult to replicate, and some will die when captured.

For these reasons, these animals are finally allowed to live in the wild so that they can live a better life. Want to know which animal species are referred to? Check out the following, let’s go!

1. Great white shark

Sharks are often found in large aquariums. But you will never find a great white shark or great white shark. What is the reason?

Great white sharks are a species that likes to explore the open seas. They also have an electroreceptor system that allows them to detect water waves made by other fish.

When great white sharks are put in an aquarium, they are very stressed. They will crash into the glass until they are injured or even refuse to eat. The electroreceptor system cannot function, making it difficult for the shark to detect the glass around it.

2. Giraffe weevil

Giraffe weevil is a unique insect with a long neck like a giraffe. Not many know him. This is because the insects that live in Madagascar are difficult to bring into zoos.

You may be wondering why giraffe weevils cannot be kept in zoos. They are not actually an endangered or protected species. This insect doesn’t even have a specific predator that can threaten it.

Reported by Be Amazed, it turns out that this insect has a very specific food and habitat, namely the giraffe beetle tree. They spend their whole life on the tree while eating its leaves. Meanwhile the tree cannot live outside Madagascar. That’s why giraffe weevils can’t be kept in zoos.

3. Saola

Also known as the unicorn from Asia, the saola is a mammal species that can only be found in Vietnam, to be precise in the Annamite mountains. Unfortunately, there is not much information that can be obtained about the saola as they are very shy.

Not only that, these large mammals are also rarely found. Even the experts do not have data on how large the population is in the world. That is why saola is assumed to be small in number and endangered.

Why can’t they be found in zoos? Observation of saola alone does not produce good results. Habitat location, behavior, and even photos are difficult to find. Catching them to keep them is almost impossible.

4. Narwhal

If saola is a unicorn from Asia, narwhal is a unicorn in the ocean. They have one long horn which is thought to function as a signpost and detector of the surrounding environment.

This species which is still related to the whale always dies when it is caught to be put into captivity or an aquarium. It is possible that the sensitive horns were injured during the transport process to the site. The second possibility is that the aquarium is not large enough to accommodate a narwhal’s body which can reach 4-5 meters.

5. Pink fairy armadillo

The pink fairy armadillo is a small mammal native to Argentina. At first glance they look like Pokemon characters with their unique “shells” and legs. Unfortunately, you can’t find this cute looking animal in a zoo.

The study from the San Diego Zoo says that pink fairy armadillos will not survive more than 30 months outside of their habitat. They are very susceptible to stress when there are many changes going on around them. In fact, not a few of them died on the way.

6. Blobfish

Named the ugliest animal in the world in 2013, of course many people want to know how the real blobfish looks. Unfortunately, this is not possible because these fish cannot be found in any aquarium.

There are several reasons for this. First, the blobfish is a species that can only live in deep oceans, making it difficult to catch them. Second, even if they are caught successfully, they need an aquarium with high water pressure to the extreme which is difficult to realize. Third, until now there are no blobfish that can live after being caught.
